Nearly done!!!

Write a reflection on what we did at technology.

I enjoyed this weeks technology because I have moved on to the next step for making my design and even though I haven't finished it i'm still proud for what I've done. What I found challenging at technology was catching up with the other kids because everyone else was nearly finish, my next steps are to stop mucking around so I can finish of my work quicker.

John Key resigning??

WALT - Write our opinions on John Key resigning.

Today in room 9 we were given a task to read a couple articles about John Key resigning and then write our opinions of how it can affect New Zealand. I enjoyed this task because I didn't find out about John Key resigning till today so i'm glad to know what is happening in our country. What I found challenging about this was when we couldn't write more than 50 words because I had more than that so I had to rewrite my paragraphs. My next steps are to blog more of my article reflections.

Christmas Activities

WALT - Research chistmas songs and tell what the lyrics mean and also search up about christmas facts.

This task shows what information I have found about the christmas songs and it also shows how other countries celebrate christmas. I enjoyed this task because I learned new facts from all over the world and I finally know what the christmas carols I have chosen mean. What I found challenging about this task was that it took long for me to set this whole slide up. But my next steps are to blog more about these kind of activities.

Helping out

This task shows what I did instead of going Kiwi Can. I found nothing challenging about this task because I knew what I was doing but my next steps are to blog more about my reflections.

Black Gold??

WALT - We are learning about events that happen around the world.

Today in room 9 we were all given an article to read online about an article called Black Gold.

At first I thought it was actually about finding black gold, but it was really about hair. The article I read was about the story behind hair extensions and wigs that people wear all around the world. But did you know that in China virgin hair are the most valuable hairs out of all because it is not been altered by an chemicals like dyes and bleaches. Did you know that in the streets of Taihe in China is the capital of hair because about 400 companies processing hair and also small family business sell strands of hair, and people are so eager to buy the hair they fight over it.

I thought this article was actually sad because it seemed like some people were forced to cut their long and beautiful hair for money. But I think they cut their hair for their families. I think it's a high demand for hair because people want to make a lot of money out of it, I think this because the prices for human hair are expensive (depending the quality of it). If this hair selling thing wasn't in demand, our society should force people to cut their hair but let them if they only want to. I think the authors purpose for this article was to tell people the truth behind wigs and extensions and make them imagine if they were those people.

What I found challenging about this article was reading the whole article because it was so long it took ages to read (well for me it did). But what I enjoyed about this task and article was that I learned more facts about what people do around the world. My next step is to stop talking to my friends and get on with the work so I can get it done faster.

Hard Materials

WALT - Write a reflection on technology.

Today the year 7&8 went to technology, right now my group is doing hard materials where we make things by hand like a woodwork, making our own pendants and other stuff like that. Today I was working on filing the sides till it's smooth and kind of shiny. What I found challenging about the task I was doing was trying to get it as smooth as I can and my next step is to work faster so I can start sanding my design and take it home.

Week Reflections

This task is about what I did at home while the year 7&8's went to camp and EOTC.
I enjoyed this task because I got to talk about what I did and I also got to personalize the slides.
I found nothing challenging about this task because these were my memories and I put them into my own words. My next steps are to blog more for this month.

Celebrations in November!!!

WALT - Find celebrations that are celebrated in November and write about it.
In room 9 we were given a task to search up celebrations in November. I worked with a couple of my friends (Ana & Hereani) so that we could get this work done quicker. I enjoyed this task because I got to learn about different celebrations around the world and I also got to learn some history. What I found challenging about this task was when I had to choose one out of all the other celebrations that I found. My next steps are to blog  more about different celebrations around the world. The new ideas I learn't were the history behind the celebrations. The slide I did was "King Tut Day"

The future expectations?

WALT - Write a reflection on the article we read.

In the second block for S.S.R. we were told to find an article from the Technology section on New Zealand Herald website. I enjoyed reading the article because I was moved by the predictions of Kaila Colbin. All her ideas were cool. What I found challenging was explaining what her ideas were about because one of them I didn't understand. My next steps are to blog more about these kind of topics. Otter's

WALT - Blog more of our work.

This wasn't a task I just did it myself because I had free time so I decided to write about one of my favourite animals, which were Otters. I enjoyed this task because I got to learn more facts about Otters and I also think that they are very cute. My next steps are to blog when I have spare time. I found nothing challenging about this task because I wasn't in a hurry and it was at the time I had finished all my work.

👑My weekend👑

WALT  -Write a reflection on what we did in the weekends.

I enjoyed my weekends because I have never been to Parakai Springs and I have never went for a trip with my church. What I found challenging about this task was writing all the things I did at the pools but. My next steps are to blog more about my weekends, I hope you enjoyed reading it and maybe one day you can go there yourself. I liked going on the slide because every time I went on it I would try and suf because we had to take a board with us as we went down.

WALT - Write a reflection on what we read about sexism.
Today in the morning block we were given an article to read and questions to answer. I enjoyed reading the article because it was an opinion about sexism towards women and how some women's sports teams aren't popular because of social media. What I found challenging was believing that there was a racism happening against women in sports. But my next step is to reflect more on topics like these (opinions on things).

😨Cosmic Tragedy🤕

WALT - Write a informative reflection about the earthquake in Kaikoura.

In the morning block we were told to read some articles about the earthquake in Kaikoura and write an informative reflection about what we read. The thing that I was wondering about the earthquake was, How was it caused? Where did it come from? Has this dangerous earthquake have been carried and been damaging other countries. I have enjoyed reading this article because I got information from this article about the tragedy that has happened and it was also informative. What I found challenging about this article was it didn't actually explain what some parts of the article was about. My new idea is to research more about this article and get more information about the earthquake. My next steps are to find more facts about his article.

I forgot to put this on my google drawing, but 2 people were killed in this incident and may they rest in peace.

Our morning on room 10

WALT - Write a reflection on what we did this morning in room 10.
This morning we had to stay with room 10 for the morning block because our teacher (Miss Komor) had to do some testing. When we went to room 10 we first did some activities about camp. But we first had to get in groups of 5 and write what participating and contributing looks like at camp. My group was just girls, we had lots of ideas of what participating and contributing looks like because we shared each others ideas and worked as a team even though it wasn't a competition. When the other groups finished brainstorming, two people from each group had to stand up and share to the whole class our ideas, the people that stood up was Nita and Irys, they bravely stood there and told the class our idea of what participating and contributing looks like. After that we had to the same thing and write our idea of what relating to others looked like.

After the first activity they were going to come up with their cabin names, but since I wasn't going I went to the back and read my reading test while they were coming up with names. It was fun in room 10 because I actually got to get closer to some people I wasn't really use to but it was still cool. Maybe next time I could try and improve on properly participating in the activities because instead of telling them my ideas I just wrote it down. Thank you for viewing my blog and enjoy reading.

Oldest woman in the world!!

In room for S.S.R. we had to go in to the section of "odd stuff" or "random post" and choose an article to read. I chose the article about the oldest women alive now. I think it is incredible that she is to turn 117 on November 27th. Her name is Emma Morano and she also says that the secret of her long life was eating eggs. If Morano had a few more years and birthdays she would break the world record of the oldest woman of 122 years old who was Jeanne Calment. Here is the LINK to the article if you want to read it.

At S.S.R we were told to read an article from the "World" section then write a reflection.

I liked reading the article because now I know who won the election and have more knowledge about what has happened around the world. But I am still working on my goal for blogging more. Technology

WALT - Write a technology reflection.
Today in room 9 we went to technology. I go to Mr.Grundys class now which is also the hard materials class. I liked this weeks session because I just finishing filing my turtle on the sides and then next week I just need to smoothen the edges and sides. But next week I hope to improve on sticking with the task I need to do and not muck around.

Bird of the year...

WALT - Write a reflection on what I read about.

In room 9 I read an article on Kiwi kids news from the random section. The article I read about was about the bird of the year called the Kokako bird. The article just told facts about the Kokako birds. On my google drawing it shows more facts about the Kokako birds and also numbered. I enjoyed searching up about the Kokako birds because I got to learn new facts about it and also because I never knew that these exist. We went to movies!!!

WALT - Write a reflection about the Manaiakalani film festival.

Here is my reflection on the Manaiakalani film festival. What I found challenging about the festival was how we couldn't choose where to sit or to sit with, so I found it challenging not sitting next to my friends.But i'm happy that I got through that. Anyways I still enjoyed watching the movies and can't wait to go next year. Basketball History

WALT - Find facts about basketball.

In room 9 I had some free time so I thought about one of my favourite sport and came up with basketball.

I enjoyed studying about the history of basketball because I got to learn new facts of it and I got to learn the background of basketball. What I found challenging to believe is how hard was it for the referee to climb the post every time the team would score a goal. Next time when I search things up I hope to put more facts on my google drawing and explain more about the fact I am talking about.

Smog in Delhi

In room 9 our teacher told us to go on Kiwi kids news and write about an article we read in the world section. The article I read about was how the celebration of Diwali caused air pollution in India,Delhi.

Guy Fawkes Day!!

WALT - Write a reflection on what we did for Guy Fawkes day.
My experience from this years Guy Fawkes day was pretty cool because food was included and drinks, ooh and I forgot to write that we lit up a couple roman candles and that was pretty cool to. Watching the fireworks on the mountain was nice because of all the colourful fireworks matched the night sky and the wind wasn't to windy. I enjoyed celebrating Guy Fawkes day.

Stranded on an island...

The article I read about was a woman who was stranded on an island for 4 days and also lighted fire (more like the whole island) to alarm the police. The island she was stuck on was an uninhabited island.

I enjoyed reading this article because it had action and excitement. And as I was reading the article I was just wondering how she got there and how could she survive for those four days.

Today after lunch we had S.S.R (Sustained Silent Reading). We had to read an article then write a reflection about it. I like reading articles that is about crime because I find it interesting and cool. And when I read crime articles it's like I wanna solve the problem too. But I hop they find the other bodies. Speech Presentation

WALT - Make a presentation for our speech
This is my speech presentation that I am blogging. The thing I found hard about making this speech presentation was when I had to try and find appropriate pictures for the presentation that will still relate to the topic I am talking about. I was interested in doing speeches because it could help me with confidence. But maybe next time I could work on putting more detail into my speech presentation.

Here is my music reflection. I enjoyed music because of all the cool beats we made up.

Here is a reflection on what we did for buddy class. I enjoyed it very much because it was fun making the mask and the mummy race game was cool too even though we didn't win the game. It was actually hard for me to poke the holes through the mask because the calendar paper was thick .

Basketball...

In the first block we went for sports. Our tutors name was Malick and he was the only tutor for this week.

I really enjoyed this weeks session because we got to play a game of basketball.

Technology Reflection

This morning we went to technology. I had hard materials class for this term. Hard materials is like a work shop where you can create things by hand and either take it home as a gift or keep at school as decoration. I enjoyed this week's technology because I got to try out new things like using a strolling saw, that was new to me and also hard to control but I found it a cool tool to use.

Music Reflection

Today in room 9 we went to music and had an exam. The exam for me was easy because I knew most of the answers to the questions. I also enjoyed the music class because when I got the wrong answers it gave me knowledge to learn about that topic. But I hope I did good in the exam so that I can get a good report. In this task we had to write a small summary on what article we read about and also give a little bit of facts on what happened in the article. In my opinion I don't think that man should have been guilty for the murder I think he should have been guilty maybe for emotional or physical abuse. But this is only my opinion.

Our task for reading was after we finished reading the article for reading we had to write a reflection for the characters in the article. the article was a bout a girl who bought a smart phone and was experiencing weird things on social media. But when the girl in the phone got to obsessed with Nina, Nina got scared of her she stopped using her phone but Meme was bullying her and saying mean things about her.

In this task we were told to look up a city named Utah , at first I thought it was an Indian country until I actually searched it up. But I enjoyed doing this activity and it also gave me more and more knowledge about this city.

The Beginning...

WALT - Colour in the picture as in us celebrating day of the dead.

Here is a picture of the picture I will have to colour in. Day of the dead is celebrated around the world especially in Mexico and spain. I have taken a picture of how it looks now and then I shall post a blog later on when I am finished colouring to show the finishing touches.

This task is about what we should not be doing in the bathrooms and what to do like rules. I have created this poster because it was for our movie of Expectation vs Reality. It was pretty hard coming up with rules in the because, well it's the toilets.

I have searched up about New Zealand because I live in that country and also because I had some spare time. This task just tells that native things in New Zealand and also some very interesting facts.

Escape Plan

WALT - Create a floor plan for fire safety.

In this task we had to create a google drawing to create a floor plan of our house incase there was a fire. Here I have created one of my own, it shows different exits for my family to get out quickly.
